Dr. Naren Shetty is the head of the Department of Cataract and Refractive Lens Services and the Director of Narayana Nethralaya, Bangalore. He completed his basic medical education from SDMMCH, Dharwad, Residency from Ramaiah Medical College and Hospital, Bangalore, M.S Ophthalmology from RRMCH, Bangalore and Cataract and Refractive Training from Narayana Nethralaya, Bangalore. He has worked under cataract and refractive surgeons of Moran Eye Center, USA and SNEC, Singapore. Dr. Naren Shetty was awarded a PhD from Maastricht University for his work on ‘Analyzing Optical Performance of Natural and Intraocular Lenses in Asian – Indian Eyes’ in January 2025.
Dr. Naren Shetty has contributed to more than 40 publications in peer-reviewed journals nationally and internationally. He has been a part of over 20 clinical trials during his career at Narayana Nethralaya. He has performed over 27,000 cataract refractive surgeries. Dr. Naren has also demonstrated multiple surgical techniques live in academic conferences. He is a member of all important national and international ophthalmic societies.
Dr. Naren is an experienced cataract and refractive surgeon with special skills in LASIK, SMILE, Phakic IOLs and premium IOL implantation. He has presented papers in national and international conferences.
